David Volk
I was born in Stuttgart, Germany into a musical family; Between my 3 siblings, parents, and I, we had a whole string quartet and 2 keyboard players. In Europe as well as in the US, I have worked for Steinway dealers exclusively. I have been tuning, repairing, and occasionally even rebuilding pianos since 1986.
My formal training began at a renowned school for piano technology in Ludwigsburg, Germany. When I moved to the US I continued my training at the Steinway & Sons Factory in New York. Since then, I have also continued my education in institutional piano maintenance through Jacob’s Music.
I am currently servicing many homes in the South-Eastern region of Pennsylvania, as well as tuning for several large local institutions such as: the Lancaster Symphony Orchestra, Millersville University, Fulton Opera House, the American Music Theater, and Rock Lititz, to name a few.
I am excited to have my son officially join the family business as of 2024, now that he has accomplished enough training and experience in his apprenticeship. After having spent so much time working on pianos together, while he was growing up, I look forward to continuing to learn and grow as a father and son business in the years to come.
My extensive experience working both in Europe and the US allows me to find the most effective tuning and action adjustments to make your piano as sensitive and expressive as possible.

Growing up, I spent a lot of time alongside my dad while he was working on pianos; whether at home, a theater, or at his shop at Reifsnyder’s. When I had grown up, I attended the Randy Potter School of Piano Technology. In 2018, I began an apprenticeship at a Philadelphia-based piano tuning company. My dad and I would still work together occasionally as large projects for him at colleges or festivals required or if he was contracted by the company I worked for to help with something. During my time there, I attended several training classes at the Steinway & Sons factory in New York for specific, niche skills so that I can better assist my clients.
Fast forward to now, I am married with two children and have recently merged with my father to service local pianos for Lancaster and the surrounding areas. I am looking forward to getting the opportunity to give your piano the “tune up” it deserves.
My lifelong experience working on pianos alongside my father has given me such a quality of training and resources; allowing me to provide a top-notch service to all of my customers.
